PROBLEM STATEMENT

Today the world is facing a lot of health related issues because of eating non organic food. In order to meet the increasing demand by massive population the food now a days is being prepared by using different pesticides and chemical sprays etc.

I am strongly concerned with the health issues caused by eating unhealthy food so in order to solve this issue I am a great supporter of organic farming.

PESTICIDES AND HEALTH

Pesticides effect human health by causing a large number of diseases ranging from mild to severe. They even cause toxicity if used on a long term basis.

The main cause of human diseases is eating unhygienic food. There is a rapid increase in the diseases like obesity, heart attack, diabetes, cancer etc all because of eating unhealthy food.

Food directly affects our health so we need to more careful about the food that we consume in order to stay healthy.

WHAT IS ORGANIC FARMING?

In organic farming, It is assured that the food which is being produced is free from harmful chemicals and pesticides. Generally this method is employed at large scale for crop and livestock production. Use of antibiotics, growth hormones,fertilizers and Gmo’s is also prohibited.

Organic production is a system by which the provision of safe food is ensured in order to make a population healthy. It helps to protect the environment as well. Main aim of this method is to develop such businesses or enterprises that are eco and environment friendly

Being from University of agriculture, Faisalabad, I noticed that a strong focus is being lead on the production of growing food without using chemicals, growth enhancers etc. because nowadays a lot of people are suffering from almost uncurable diseases and the reason is unhealthy food.

How it works

In this method, conventional method using chemicals is discouraged and replaced by natural method. Crop rotation, pulverization and tillage practices are adopted in order to enhance the productivity of soil.

Initially the yields are low but after continuous practicing the yields are much enhanced

Advantages of using organic food

· It helps to protect the environment, soil leaching is discouraged

· Biological diversiry within an ecosystem is maintained

· It relies on renewable resources

· Protects from diseases

· Maintain long term soil fertility.

So I am concerned with the production of organic foods initially at small scale and if I got successful I will be focusing more on large scale production.

Till now, I have worked in our plot at some distance from our house, where I have grown a few seasonal vegetables without using any pesticides and chemicals.
